Horrible Wait Times but Great Food I hate to have to take a couple stars away but my last 4 visits have been horrible when it comes to waiting. For the most part there's usually an empty table so that's quick but the the time it takes for a server to come to the table and bring your order out is ridiculous. Today we arrived 10 past 6pm, it was 6 of us with a baby. After placing our orders and being starving we had to wait close to 40 mins for the food to come out meanwhile the tables around us which arrived after us were already eating. Clearly there is a problem with the kitchen putting orders out efficiently. There's also no communication between the waiters and the customers, not even a "your food will be out shortly". Food is still delicious though, I can't complain there. I'm not sure if I'll be going there for a while... It makes no sense to go to a restaurant hungry and have to wait so long for food.On the other 3 occasions it's only been 3 of us ordering and still the ridiculous wait times.

Wow, what a popular local spot! I came here for sunday brunch and man was it jam packed! Luckily, we didn't have to wait long for our table of four and a toddler. I really wasn't sure what to order so I got the sampler dish and an arepa to share. For drinks we got a cafe con leche and a batido de trigo. I learned that it's a sweet wheat puff drink; so imagine that childhood cereal of Smacks being blended with ice and milk. It was different! I really loved my coffee as I was able to pour however much espresso I wanted in my steam milk. Anyway, our food arrived and our sampler was massive! This plate had so much food on it that it still looked whole even after we were done picking through the items. It had: sliced steak, fried yuca, fried pork belly chunks, bean dip, spicy pickled slaw, and even a wedge of cheese! Umm, I'm pretty sure there were other items, but I can't remember. It was just a lot of food that I wasn't expecting for one dish. It's definitely an authentic joint that has the biggest bang for your buck! No frills, just loads of food.

Every single time I've come here, the food has been delicious. Best Pupusas in town. I order about 20 for my family and just take them home, can literally eat these for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Been coming here for years and will definitely continue.

3.5* Whoever has this as a Mexican Rest. is wrong. This place is Salvadorian food. There is El Salvador pictures all on the walls and on the menu. I don't know who thought this was Mexican? The place is a typical Hispanic restaurant. All the same types of food, with only a few small changes on certain things. If you like Cuban, Colombian, Puerto Rican, etc.. food, then you should like this place. For example, the rice and beans are different and have a sweet taste. There were either sweet peppers or even carrots mixed on the beans. It was different and good. I have the chicken steak and my wife had the steak. Both were good. Its worth a try.

Wow,wow, wow this place was a total surprise. I took a group of 8 seniors for dinner last Friday . Was not sure they would like it, since most don't like heavy spice. The food was out of this world . The red snapper was the best I have ever eaten.

The pupusas are awesome. I tried a bean/cheese one and a chicharron/bean one and they were both excellent and super inexpensive. The plates are so big, you can definitely shared. I ordered off the kids menu (which has a lot of healthy options) and shared with my son and there was more than enough. It was a plate of rice and beans with chicken. We also tried a tamale, which was delicious.

This is a review based on my experience from Saturday. I decide to go to this place for the first time based on the reviews of others. It's quite a drive since I live in Kendall. It was 8:45pm, we were a party of 6 and it was busy. The place was packed with people which is a very good sign. When the waitress came to our table to take our order, she spoke really fast describing the side options. She was very annoyed and looked away when we asked her repeat them. After she took all 6 orders she forgot to ask about drinks. I decide to tell her what I wanted before she left. As she was leaving, she spoke to my husband about his order and then came back to me to ask me what I wanted to drink. This was something I told her less than 1 minute ago- Strike #1 We decided to start with their famous Pupusas. They are served with cabbage salad, tomato sauce and an onion sauce. The sauce arrives in serving cups for the table to share. The tomato sauce had a long hair tucked inside-DISGUSTING! Unfortunately, it had already been poured on top of one of the Pupusas. We called the waitress back. She did NOT apologize or looked surprised at all. She simply & casually took the sauce containers to the kitchen and brought out new ones. We asked to receive a new Pupusa since we would not eat the one contaminated with hair. Her reply & in a rude manner was "You have to wait since they are not made" ... Obviously, we prefer to wait than to eat a contaminated one. - Strike #2 Our main courses arrived and the side was incorrect. Apparently our annoyed waitress couldn't get the order right. She asked to transfer the wrong side (maduros) to a dish we had on the table and she would exchange them for the correct one (tostones). She blamed the kitchen staff, saying that they were having a hard time keeping up with the orders since the place was full. By the time our tostones came out they were extra fried & extremely crispy. Really hard to bite or cut into. - Strike #3 After all this, we decided to finished our meals as they were. The Pupusas were tasty. Churrasco was over cooked, flavorless and very dry. Crab & Seafood soup was over loaded with Yuca. We received our bill and surprise... GRATUITY WAS INCLUDED! I understand paying for it since we were a party of 6, however service was DESPICABLE & NOT worthy of it. We had to look for the waitress most of the night to correct her mistakes, we weren't offered any water, asked if we needed another drink, more sauce for the Pupusas, or if our meals were to our satisfaction. Hospitality is lost at this place and it is NOT a Latin/Hispanic thing. If you cater to customers, you need to do a good job at it. This is universal and NOT a cultural thing. Do NOT treat your customers with AWFUL service, just because you know you will be taking their gratuity automatically. While the place was full, it is very small in comparison to any large chain restaurant. These other restaurants are also very busy on weekends and yet they still manage to provide good service & satisfaction to their customers. If you automatically charge gratuity, you MUST be deserving of it! My star rating on this review is STRICTLY for the Pupusas ONLY! My suggestion is as follows: If you decide to eat here, take it to go, skip the AWFUL service & inspect the food before you leave. You wouldn't want to find a hairy surprise or incorrect side with your meal when you get home.

I have been coming here since I was a little girl. This was the first Salvadorian place in the area for a long time. I have great memories here. The food has ALWAYS been excellent. My family has never had a complaint. The one thing I can say is that on the weekends this place gets pretty packed. Other then that the portions are great and the service is good.

Mark A.'s parents always seem to find the most hidden of places. At their request, we came for a Father's Day lunch here. Not sure if it's because it was Father's Day or just a Sunday or a Sunday during the World Cup, but it was packed...and loud. We waited about 20 minutes for a table for 4. The service wasn't bad, wasn't amazing, average. No complaints. The food was good! I ordered the steak fajitas with salad and fried bananas. I would have done rice instead of salad, had I known these fajitas don't actually come with tortillas. Darn it. Especially since the salad was not impressive at all. The steak itself, though, was delicious. Saucy, flavorful, tender. It was great! (Probably better had I tortillas or rice to accompany it.) I took a taste of Mark's churrcasco. Oh, wow. Even better than my dish! Lucky. I just wish it had come with chimichurri sauce, like most other churrasco's. Both of us couldn't finish our large portions, so we took it home. I had leftovers for lunch the next day... still good! The only reason I'm giving 3 stars is because I don't see myself coming back. It's really too cramped of a space, and even though our wait wasn't that long, there are other places I can go without a wait and still get some good grub.

Yum! Great food, fun local atmosphere and great value. You can come here for anything, breakfast, brunch, lunch and dinner. Everything is great. Friendly staffed, I'm sure it'll be a lot better if I spoke Spanish but I get by. They have this one plate (I forgot what it's called) for $12 you get a mountain of food. Great value to share with another person or two!

I was seriously impressed and pleased with our chance decision to have dinner here on Superbowl Sunday! I was visiting my parents with the family and our standby spot, Supunnahong, was closed for the game, so we were trying to figure out where else when we came across El Atlakat in the immediate area. The food was all fresh and the service friendly. Additionally the prices are amazing for what you're getting. Highlights included the grilled chicken and steak as well as the sweet corn tamale. Oh, and they were showing football...It was the kind the rest of the world prefers. :)

This place is amaizing, the taste of their food is super good, the prices of their food will be considered cheap for the portion of food that they serve, a looooot! Also this place is open til 1am! Not a bad place to have a late night meal...

  • McKayla M.

Came here with a couple of friends one night for a late night dinner. Small little place, but the food is pretty good & the portion is big. Also the price is right. I had a pupusa con queso which was so yummy. Loved it. For my entree I had the Atalkat especial. Nice size boneless chicken breast, skirt steak & 2 shrimp. It came with 2 sides too. It was really good. Basically the bottom line is, it was cheap & delicious, which means I'll be coming back!! OH & they're open till 1am!! Update: I have been back SEVERAL times! Its always good and the price is right!!

Went here tonight for the first time. Delicious!! We had orange/carrot juice, papusa con queso, and a breakfast plate with eggs, beans, chicken cutlet, plantains, and cheese. Could not believe how much food came out on the breakfast plate for only $6.99. The papusa was very good also. They also brought out a plate full of what I guess were El Salvadorian tortillas to eat with our food. I didn't have any but they did look yummy. The place doesn't look like much but we'll definitely be going back!

This place has special place in my heart. I've been coming here for years and the food is always good and cheap. It's just good 'ol latin homemade food. The restaurant is Salvadorean and has been there for years. They recently did a bit of a remodel. It's still a casual restaurant though. They serve wine an liquor. They're open all day and even late night serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Some of my favorites are their carne asada which is 2 big pieces of skirt steak served with 3 sides. I usually go for rice, refried beans, and tostones. They also make a really good fried fish too. They give you a whole fish (head & tail included) fried to a crispy perfection it's sooo good but will set you back a few bucks. This also comes with three sides. They probably make one of the best sopa de res in the area, a bowl is only $3.50 and this comes with a side of rice and you will be full at the end. They have different soups throughout the week and on the weekends they make their seafood soup which is also very good. No visit is complete for me without getting a pupusa de queso, they're masters at making pupusas! It's served hot and delicious with a red sauce, pickled cabbage (my favorite), and a spicy onion mix. You must get this! The service is always fast and friendly. Try their fruit juices you won't be disappointed. Some of my favorites are Tamarindo, horchata, and maracuya. Their breakfast are also great and cheap. The only thing I don't like at this restaurant is their chicharron its always way too hard and you can't eat most of them. If you're looking for simple home cooked inexpensive Latin meal this is your place!

Now this place is yummy. It is always crowded and there are lots of people here. Their typical Central American food and drinks are absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this place if you are in a car and not from this area. If you are from this area, and you have not discovered this place, you are in for a real treat! The food is absolutely delicious, the service is fine and the prices are really good.

I like this little restaurant tucked in a somewhat inconspicuous corner of a shopping center where if it weren't for the quickie-mart in this same strip, I'd never stop here otherwise. They've got great food at great prices. I have tried a few dishes including the skirt steak and eggs and it's always good portions and great flavor. The soups look really good too and I envied the neighboring table as they chowed down. As low-key as this place may seem it turns out everyone and their mama's mama know they exist and also like the food too. They seem to always have customers no matter the day. I don't usually mind until having visited on a Sunday. The wait was short but the place was packed. They were definitely stretched in service but still managed to keep up with drinks. The food took about an hour to arrive which is not my usual experience. The majority of the crowd seems to be church goers letting loose over pitchers of sangria after holding in their naughty side all morning... actually a fun crowd! My only complaint was a large party who did not control their children in these close quarters. We were constantly being brushed, hit, knocked and even our table was pushed several times. Because the place was so packed, switching seats was just not an option and although we were visually annoyed, the parents just didn't care to try. They even walked out leaving two of the kids behind who hovered over us on their ipads. Yes, I will likely avoid Sundays here, but otherwise this place is a fave of mine.

My best friend and me are regulars here. This is our Pupusa Destination! We've tried other restaurants and their pupusas do not come close to the ones here. Very affordable, delicious, and fresh. The service is good on some nights. My only complaint about the restaurant is there's always a fly or two buzzing around. It can get annoying while trying to enjoy your food. All else is great! It's definitly the spot in Pembroke Pines to score some tasty Salvadorian food.

Great food for a awesome price . I've been going to this place for years and enjoy it . The fast service is very consistent and the familiar faces make speaking only English very easy . Speaking Spanish makes ordering a bit easier

Steak is soooo tasty. Beef soup is also great. Huge portion. Service is good. It is one of the best restaurants around Pembroke pines. However, if you are looking for fancy decorations, you should not come to this place.

This place definitely gets it right when it comes to flavor and service. The prices were also good. I love their tamales, popusas, and their 4.99 breakfasts with scrambled eggs are great any time of the day!

Okay I was not impressed.... 1 star for the service, our waitress was friendly and did her job well. 1 star for the drinks, they were fresh and not too sweet. -The beans were not fresh :( so sad because its the easiest thing to make. -The sweet corn tamal was grainy, a sign that they must use a flour mix and they were hard and with a freezer aftertaste. ~The soup was good, says my husband, but the rice was undercooked. ~The toppings were okay Overall this place let us down.

Great Salvadorean food. Lots of food for the price but the place is always packed. Good service in general

I was referred to this place by my grandma and let me say-- it is amazing! The portions are huge for what you pay. I went with a friend and we had each a huge lunch churrasco with rice and beans, a pupusa appetizer and a lemonade and passion fruit juice, the total bill was $20! I went with my husband last weekend and we ordered a bunch of dishes and once again did not disappoint. The pupusas are worth trying as well as the skirt steak

I went there yesterday for lunch with my sister and a friend. This place was in a shopping strip, not packed at all. I am not sure if this place is associated with the atlakat that I went to last week in Miami. They didn't have the soup that I reviewed last week; therefore, We each ordered the seafood soup and seafood cream. And a sample platter or their appetizers such as fried yuca, fried pork, refried beans with queso fresco, white spanish cheese, pickled onions & carrots, salad, tortillas, it was plenty. The food was good. The service was ok, definitely better than service I received last week at the location on 40 street and 90 something avenue in Miami. If you live in the Pembroke Pines area and you like latin food , I recommend this place.

Been coming here for years, don't know why it took me so long to review it! Located in a pretty nondescript strip mall in Pembroke Pines, it's easy to miss, but once you find it, you will be thrilled you did! Have not had a bad meal here. Ever. Dishes not to be missed are the shrimp in red sauce,( my mouth is seriously watering as I'm thinking about it), the strip steak and the beef soup (served on M, W, F) or the seafood soup(served only on Sat). How scary is it that I know the days they serve these particular soups??!! They also have a sampler platter that is enough to feed a small army. Well, maybe not a small army but at least 2-3 hungry people. It's also opened til around 2am, a plus for people who want to eat after a night of partying. Another plus is their meals are very inexpensive, especially considering the amount of food they give you. Do not miss out on this place!!

  • Isabel B.

Food is good. Manager (the man at the front who is always there) is very attentive and reaches out to customers in various situations of customer service. Most waitresses have reliable memory regarding your order others not so much. I requested a to go order in addition to my inhouse order. I asked for to five times for our waitress to remember to have our to go order ready. What do you know? She still forgot!

This place is far from fancy, but the food is awesome. The tamales and pupusa are enough reason to eat here.

  • Kelly C.

Been coming here for almost 7 years. Me and my husband decided to take his family here for the first time. Grant it, it was busy. We understood we had to wait. We waited for our food for about 45 min. to an hour. After we got our drinks, the waiter never once checked up on us or tell us something normal like "your food will be right out." I had to get up and complain. Waiter was extremely rude. Service was terrible. As any annoyed customer I reacted because the waiter never checked up on us. As we continued to wait, we overhear an employee that should lose their job by the way talk about "impatient people" to a random person eating. Are they not aware we're in the same room and we could hear you? Disrespectful. My suggestion don't complain because employees will talk bad about you to other customers right in front of you. The service was horrific. Never going back. They don't even deserve a star. If I could give them negative I would.

  • Jennifer D.

The service is really GREAT here!!!! The pupusas are delicious. You must ask for the "Repollo" to make it even better. My boyfriend and I ate a cheese pupusa, a chicarron pupusa, and a Chuleta de Cerdo. I left that place more than STUFFED! But everything was very delicious! The chuleta was a little burnt but the extra sauce and peppers made it taste great. This place is a GREAT asset to the neighborhood. And it isn't expensive at all!

  • Jessy S.

ok so I have literally have had every item on their menu in the last couple of years. This is the best bang for your buck. This place is not fancy, but very attentive service and well made food. They have a well cooked, well seasoned churrasco for a fraction of what you would pay elsewhere. Furthermore, their prices on all their dishes are excellent. For a first time, I would recommend their cheese pupusas and their churrasco dish. They have an amazing lunch menu for $5.99 which is an insane amount of food for the price. I come here at least once a week. Their breakfast is amazing. No pancakes here, no french toast or waffles, but an amazing central american experience... enjoy!

  • Felicia R.

Recommended by a friend, she raves about this place often. I called ahead and ordered a couple of the Pupusa Revuelta (mixed ingredients of cheese, beans, and chicharrón) and took it to go. Let me say, for my first Pupusa, it was very tasty. I enjoyed it very much and I recommend having more than one if you have a bigger appetite. It's a small cafeteria style establishment and at lunch time, it was full of customers (good sign). Lots of movement, and may not be the prettiest of shopping centers or sit down restaurants, but I really enjoyed my meal.

Free chips/salsa Carrot & orange juice combo was really really good. Packed with natives eating in and take out.

Had the skirt steak (8 oz)with fried yuca and a salad.... The steak was perfectly cooked and very juicy... Not bad for $5.99... Will be returning many times!!

Went for lunch and the food was amazing. I grew up with this great home style cooking having Honduran parents and it was truly authentic. Fantastic lunch specials for $5.99 and the portions are plentiful. Definitely worth it to check this place out. I thoroughly enjoyed the carne asada with platanos maduro and frijoles. Delicious! I'm taking my sister with me next time so she can enjoy the experience as well. Only thing is either go before the lunch crowd or after because they get packed so if your in a hurry call ahead or get it to go. The Food is fantastic and the staff is super nice and friendly and so helpful. Oh and they have pupusas too and batidos which looked so delicious as well. I'll try them next time I go. It's not a fancy shmansy restaurant but I give them Five stars for the food.

  • Stuart S.

The food was good, but I didn't find anything totally specific to El Salvadorian food. Everything looked and tasted like most food from South American restaurants. I tried the mix plate and a steak with sauce. Although they were good, I've had better (maybe I love Colombia food too much!). On my goal to try different cultural foods I can say I have tried food from El Salvador.

  • Jermaine G.

It's inexpensive and tasty! The waitstaff is helpful...BUT if you're not fluent in Spanish you might have a difficult time getting a custom order in. Try the beef soup and the skirt steak, you wont be disappointed.

  • Lil Z.

This place looks like a hole in the wall but never underestimate its potential. ;) I had the puposa for appetizer. It tastes like a flatbread with finely chopped shredded pork inside. I really like it! For entrée, I had the chicken fajitas. The portion was HUGE... It can feed three people! I was stuff afterward. Nothing special on the chicken fajita. This is NOT a place for a romantic date if you want to try a new place out. =) Food: GOOD Service: OK Price: CHEAP Return: YES (For the puposa!)

  • Sunny N.

This place is super cool and makes me very happy. I've never had el salvadorian food so I wasn't expecting much but this placed delivered a nice surprise. It was jam packed with their native (that's how you know it's good) and shockingly pretty quite. The service was great, very friendly. The food was super yummy! Me and my date shared the salvadorean sampler (super antojitos atlakat)-which was gigantic and 100% delish! For $10.99 it's a must!!! And the lemonade was amazing! It's like a frozen thing that make make all special and s#%t but it's a must aswell. This place rocks and I WILL be back for more :)

I went here with some coworkers for lunch today. We were pleased with the lunch menu... hard to beat $4.99 for lunch entrees of a decent size. I had the chicken breast with 2 sides: maduros & beans. The quality and service are decent, especially given the price.

Great home style Salvadorian food!!!!! Food is great!!!! Service is exceptional and prices you can eat 2 people for $10... Can't beat that anywhere... Have to try the steak with rice and beans.... A must visit when in them mood for a good home style affordable delicious meal!!!!!!!!
